Volunteer Opportunities

Get Involved and Stay Connected

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with our Rachel's Vineyard-Houston (RVH) ministry.  Our retreats and follow up opportunities are made possible through a partnership with the Office of Pro-Life Activities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Each retreat requires a lot of time, financial resources and prayer. We would love to have you involved!

This is also a great way to continue your healing journey by staying connected to our community, give back and be fed by the Holy Spirit. As you have attended a retreat you know how special and yet how scary the retreats can be for many reasons including shame, fear and struggle to trust. To provide the most supportive environment for healing we make every attempt to maintain strict confidentiality. As a volunteer you would be asked to maintain the same level of confidentiality that you did on your retreat.

The following page outlines many of the areas where you can get plugged into volunteering regardless of the amount of time or resources you have available. Some of the opportunities require more time, organizational and communication skills…while others simply require a willing spirit. We have both on and offsite opportunities for volunteering.

Please take some time to review the attached list and descriptions of opportunities, pray and discern with the help of the Holy Spirit where you are being called to help. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

After you have completed your discernment, please return the inquiry/volunteer form. Thank you again for your dedication and commitment to not only your own healing but that of other men and women who have been impacted by abortion.

The headcount/number is likely to vary but likely somewhere between 15-25). Onsite Volunteer Opportunities

Onsite Team Requirements

To meet our goal of having two fully staffed and trained teams, we are looking to expand our onsite team. To be part of an onsite team, you need to have attended your own RV retreat and have continued to work on your own healing either through individual counseling, spiritual direction, or attending follow up groups.  The weekend can be triggering at times for all of us, so having sufficient healing is critical to ensure the weekend is safe for you and for others.

Things to consider and discern related to onsite team participation (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND PRAYERFULLY):

  • Awareness that you would be exposed to retreatants trauma and pain which can be triggering. Therefore, taking an objective look at the level of your emotional and spiritual healing and access to emotional and spiritual support (e.g.: counseling or spiritual direction).
  • Strong prayer life and good spiritual health practices including regular attendance at Mass, reconciliation and adoration/prayer time which are strong protection against spiritual attacks such as shame, doubt, fear, hurt, resentment, isolation, gossip, etc.
  • Ability to be flexible, take direction, think, and operate independently while working as part of a team.
  • Capacity to remain present and available for team and retreatants.
  • Schedule flexibility and/or childcare, pet care or time off from work.
  • Ability and commitment to attending team meetings and/or training sessions scheduled either via zoom or in person.

Onsite weekend team commitment best if staying onsite but commuter options are available. Regardless, individual would need to be onsite during all Living Scriptures (LS) and activities.

Onsite Opportunities

The following onsite opportunities are good entry level opportunities to experience the teaming process.  These roles are very important to the flow of the weekend.

o Music-train to run the music during the LS and activities.

o Props- train to coordinate, set up/take down props for each LS.
